Tourist arrivals by charter flights to Rhodes during the period January - December 2012 were finally “not bad after all” according to the latest statistical data.

The total arrivals in Rhodes for the  season 2012 were 1.607k pax vs.1,735k pax in 2011 against 1,433k pax in 2010 .
As stated in our previous posts S2012 despite the decrease of -7.4% vs S2011 proved to be the second best season ever in the history of Rhodian tourism. Note that in terms of arrivals, S2011 was the record year with a phenomenal +21% increase versus 2010. 

Based on this  this information, there was a significant decrease in tourist arrivals mainly from Italy (-69k ), Germany (- 51k), Poland (- 31k) -due to the collapse of several Polish Tour Operators)- and Belgium (-12k).
A large increase in the volume of clients visiting the island from Russia (+45k), together with Norway (+23k), UK (+9k) and Sweden (+5k) gave a better equilibrium to the final statistics of 2012.
The most significant changes in the market share was: the growth of the Russian Market from 7,0% to 10,4% and the decline of the Italian Market from 9,4% to 6,2% who was also affected by the economic  crisis.
